A year ago today (23rd February 2023), The Lincolnite reported that Lincolnshire County Council had appointed Balfour Beatty as the contractor to deliver the £212 million North Hykeham Relief Road.

The new road will link the A46 dual carriageway with the Lincoln Eastern Bypass and create a complete ring road around Lincoln.

Should the new road be built, there will be considerable disruption to the farmers whose land will be subject to Compulsory Purchase Orders. Lincolnshire County Council is currently wanting access onto land to undertake surveys and soil investigations prior to submitting a Planning Application in September 2023.

A lengthy planning and consultation process will follow.

We are currently working with several farmers along the full length, representing them in negotiations with the Council’s agent to ensure that access to their land causes minimal disruption to their farming operations and to gain compensation for access, lost time, and damage to their land and crops.

Dealing with the Council and its contractors can be confusing and stressful. With over 30 years of experience handling sales, valuations and compulsory purchases, Walters Rural Chartered Surveyors can help you decipher the correspondence and represent you in meetings and negotiations to ensure you receive appropriate compensation.

If the route will cross your land and you’d like to know more about how we can help you, please call Ray Phillips on 01522 696496, email ray@walters-rural.com
